Starting point
One validation achieved, new sectors to explore
Air quality in industrial processes has been a crucial issue for decades in the pharmaceutical, electronics, cosmetics and biotech industries. GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) regulations impose strict standards for microbiological and particulate contamination control, standards that filtration systems alone struggle to guarantee over time.
PLASMAIR fits into this context as an additional, continuous decontamination layer: it does not replace the HEPA or ULPA filters required by regulations, but enhances their effectiveness by acting actively on the microorganisms that filters capture but do not eliminate.
The first pharmaceutical validation has given us the foundations. We are now looking for partners in the electronics, cosmetics and biotech sectors to expand the data set and explore the specific needs of each application context.
What we already know — TRL7 pharmaceutical
In an ISO 8 industrial pharmaceutical cleanroom, PLASMAIR achieved a 94% reduction in bacterial load (from 16 to 1 CFU/4h) and a 50.3% reduction in particulate ≥ 0.5 µm (from 1,725,099 to 857,596 particles/m³).
The night‑time cycle operated with O₃ ≥ 200 ppb for 3 hours; the daytime cycle with ≤ 50 ppb in the presence of staff. No growth of Geobacillus stearothermophilus, the standard biological indicator in pharmaceutical production, was observed in any session.
Application sectors
Where PLASMAIR can be used in industry
Each sector has specific regulatory and operational requirements. We present the application potential transparently, indicating where we already have data and where we are still exploring.
Pharmaceuticals and biotech
Production of pharmaceuticals, APIs, vaccines, and biological products. GMP regulations require the highest level of microbiological and particulate contamination control throughout the entire production chain.
PLASMAIR has already undergone initial validation in pharmaceutical cleanroom environments
Surgical instruments and dry decontamination
Cold plasma technologies for advanced decontamination processes involving surgical instruments and sensitive medical components.
Particularly suitable for low-temperature treatment environments where conventional thermal sterilization may be unsuitable.
PoloPlasma’s second patent explores plasma-assisted dry-treatment technologies.

Precision electronics
Production of semiconductors, microchips, displays and optical components. In these environments, particulate contamination, even sub‑micrometric ,can compromise entire production batches. Fine particulate control is critical.
Cosmetics and personal care
Production of cosmetics, fragrances and dermocosmetic products. ISO 22716 (cosmetic GMP) requires controlled production environments, with attention to microbiological contamination in non‑sterile but low‑bioburden products.
Research and diagnostic laboratories
BSL‑1 and BSL‑2 laboratories, molecular diagnostics centres and pharmaceutical R&D labs. Environments where cross‑contamination between samples is a constant risk and air quality has a direct impact on the validity of results.
Fine chemicals and nutraceuticals
Production of active ingredients, supplements, botanical extracts and products based on sensitive raw materials. These environments require microbiological contamination control to ensure stability and safety of the finished product.
Technology foundations
Why cold plasma fits industrial cleanrooms
SDBD plasma technology is engineered to support continuous contamination control in critical industrial cleanroom environments.
Integrates with any existing VMC
PLASMAIR intercepts airflow in existing ductwork without requiring structural modifications to the plant or production areas. Fast installation, no interruption of the production cycle.
Reduced airflow at the same ISO class
Optimised recirculation makes it possible to reduce required airflow rates while maintaining the same ISO classification, with significant energy savings compared to traditional high‑flow systems.
Duct decontamination and extended filter life
Plasma reactive species also act on duct walls and filters themselves, reducing biofilm formation inside ductwork and extending filter life, with a direct impact on maintenance costs.
Shorter decontamination phases
In GMP environments, the decontamination phase after an intervention is often long and expensive. Active plasma speeds up the recovery of classified conditions, reducing downtime between production runs.
Temperature and humidity control
Integrated sensors continuously monitor temperature, relative humidity and differential pressure, critical parameters in many industrial production processes and in GMP documentation.
GMP‑compliant documentation
The system continuously records and stores all operating parameters. Logs are available for regulatory audits, inspections and production quality documentation.
We are looking for industrial partners
Are you ready for a technical validation partnership?
We have the technology and the first validation. We are building the data set for the electronics, cosmetics, biotech and laboratory sectors. We are looking for facilities to do this with, in the form of a transparent technical collaboration.
1
Partners joining the pilot phase access the system under preferential financial conditions, agreed case by case depending on plant characteristics.
2
For the entire test duration, we provide the RS485 Modbus sensor network (CO₂, O₃, particulate, T, RH, pressure) with a real‑time IoT dashboard, data that are also useful for GMP documentation.
3
At the end of the test, we deliver a complete report with data collected before and after activation, using a protocol replicable under ISO 14644 and EN 17141 methodologies.
4
Installation is carried out during scheduled shutdowns or outside production hours. The system operates transparently alongside normal production activities.
5
Pilot partners will be acknowledged in scientific publications and presentations arising from the tests, if agreed, also with explicit reference to the company’s specific sector.
What we ask from pilot partners
Operational availability
Continuous access to the HVAC/AHI system and selected controlled environments during the validation phase.
Technical data sharing
Willingness to share collected data for research and scientific publication purposes, including in anonymised form.
Technical contact
An internal technical contact person who can facilitate access to facilities and communication with our team.
